The project focused on creating a tabletop roleplaying scenario supported by Funiki in the form of a Scooby Doo-style mystery. The main events occur within a lighthouse where a mysterious set of events occur.

There is some variation in what players see depending on the actions that they take, but the basic story sequence is as follows:

  1. The players go to a small seaside village to meet Perrine Durand, a friendly lighthouse keeper. They are warned not to go to the ligthouse by a strange goon upon arriving.
  2. They approach the lighthouse and go inside.
  3. The lights black out and they have to rely on candle light to light their way.
  4. When they try to turn the lights back on a strange red light turns on instead of the previous lighthouse light.
  5. The party is attacked by some sort of spirit which they defeat.
  6. They find and open the cursed chest.
  7. The players go back to the police station and are explained everything that happens.

We describe how we created the lighting effects in some of these scenes and also go into more detail about the story elements in those scenes.

The Characters

There were two sessions features 4 players and 3 players filling particular roles such as the adventurer, collector, librarian etc. Here are the player cards from both sessions.

Story Board / Outline

Guillaume Boulliard created the following outline for The Lighthouse before we got to implementing it in the Funiki project. You can see how he thought about different audio and light settings as well as transitions between areas.
